FREESTLE NEWS

Issue #4

Sup FREESTYLE World!!! Here is another edition of the FREESTYLE NEWS brought to you by Freestylemania.com from DMA Magazine, “The Number One Dance Music Magazine.”

Well, As I stated on the last issue, the WMC was a success like every year but it seems that more and more that Freestyle is being less-represented. All of the Freestyle heavyweights were a no-show except for a small indie label, E-Lastic Records. These guys were out here pumping their hearts out for freestyle and promoting their new compilation, Freestyle Mega Mix, on Power 96 FM.

As for the rest of the industry, we are still making good progress. Rockell has released her newest single, "What You Did To Me", from her album, "Instant Pleasure." Eventhough this track is not a strong Freestyle track, it is a must to listen. Her voice is beautifully done over this track and it is a sure to be an instant club hit.

The Bay Area has produced some of Freestyle's greatest divas such as Angelina, Julissa, Brissa, Buffy, M:G, and now ROSALINDA. Rosalinda's current single, "Give Me All Your Love", has been blowing up the charts and getting massive airplay across the country. Due to the success of the single, her debut album has hit the streets. If you would hear her voice, you would figure she was a Freestyle veteran but this success can also be credited to her production team (formerly 3rd Floor Productions who had worked with such artists like Rozalla,Crystal Waters,Sting,Ru Paul,DeepForest,BoyGeorge) consisting of DJ Rai & DJ Chill who both were behind Energy's "Take Me Higher" as well as Rosalinda's 1st smash single, and Tyler Stone who remixed "Tempermental" by Everything But The Girl.

This album does feature a wide variety of dance styles but has a very strong freestyle base There are 12 tracks in all. This album is a must in anyone's freestyle collectiona and urge everyone to keep an eye for this young diva.

Another group that is makin noise in the Freestyle World is IdolMaker Records. This label is doing what few labels are doing and that is putting out quality freestyle compilations. I have had the privledge of speaking to Ashley from IdolMaker records and had the chance to listen to her music and let me tell you; if her wonderful personality and beautiful music is any indication of what they can do, the Dance Music World better watch out. I received their Compilation, "Freestyle Generation-Nex", about 2 months ago and failed to include it in my last News update. Well, after listening to it virtually everyday, I can honestly say that it is the best Freestyle Compilation I have heard this year. What is even better is that they are representing our roots by including some tracks done in Spanish like Freddy Lopez's "Estilo Libre" from Eli Records in NYC. This album contains many old school beats but with a new feel to it.

Sal Abatiello of Fever Records and Eddie are releasing a compilaton called, "The Reincarnation." This album will include new remixes of NOEL's "Silent Morning", and various other cuts from freestyle artists such as "The Cover Girls" and "Sandee." So, Keep an eye out for this one. Also, speaking of NOEL, he was recenly in Miami and was stated that he will be returning to the music scene with some hard trance tracks produced by the people who did Robin Fox's tracks such as "I See Stars." I personally had the pleasure of meeting NOEL and in fact spent an hour talking about Freestyle in general. He is a very talented individual and still can sing his heart out. Keep an eye out for this Freestyle Legend as he make his return!!

Another Artist worth mentioning is Tito Puente Jr. Though Tito Puente Jr. is more of a non-freestyle artist, his contribution to the Freestyle World is tremendous and is a very talented artist when it comes to salsa, carribean, and Latin House. With that said, it is no doubt that his new production on Gotham records called, "Dance,Dance" will be an instant hit. This Latin single is off his forthcoming self-titled album and it a contains several remix versions of this original Latin flavor track.

Well, as I finish up this edition of Freestylemania News, I would like to say that if we are going to keep our music goin, we must BUY the MUSIC. Go out there and purchase every compilation and support this music. That being said, DMA has just released a new compilation on April 24th called, "Best of DMA FREESTYLE FILE" volume 1. This is the first collection of hits ever compiled by the fans through Clubfreestyle.com for the fans celebrating the artists and producers that have made a significant contribution to Freestyle Music. Support Freestyle and purchase this CD at your Major Retail stores or via the net at DMAdance.com. Peace!!

Remember….ITS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC…FREESTYLE FOREVER
