DANCE THE NIGHT WAY - Ext.

Ms. Conde was born on October 24th to Dominican parents in Washington Heights New York City. At the tender age of 5, her kindergarten teachers regarded her as a talented child with a tendency to entertain her peers. She attended Catholic grade school and took singing lessons under much encouragement from her mom. Gladys Conde was an accomplished singer herself and often sang at social events. With the knowledge of music strongly connected to her future, Vanessa entered high school.
After the untimely death her father and number 1 fan Victor Conde, Mrs. Conde moved her family to where her daughters could receive better education and stability. Vanessa attended Teaneck High School and began to adjust to her new life. Despite these changes, Mrs. Conde encouraged her daughter to join the High School Choir and continue her studies as a vocalist. Dr. Maredia Warren, an accomplished organist and music teacher, was another source of Vanessa's encouragement. At age 17 and only a junior, Vanessa had been accepted into Westminster Choir College as a Vocal Performance Major, a prestigious music school in Princeton New Jersey. Her hard work paid off as she collected several scholarships during her senior year for college.

At Westminster, she encountered exceptional teachers but faced many challenges. Her counselor discouraged her from becoming an opera singer, as the industry was competitive and contained minimal representation of Hispanic American artists. This made Vanessa even more determined to succeed despite the odds. She participated in the NJ State (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and placed 8th in the state as a Sophomore (1992) and 6th as a senior Undergraduate (1997). She founded the Black and Hispanic Alliance Support Group for students. Its purpose was to support the dreams of the minority musician not discourage them. Before transferring to Montclair State, she was awarded the 1993 Campus Leadership Award.

At Montclair State University, she majored in Vocal Performance and studied voice under former New York City Opera baritone Edward Pierson. Mr. Pierson was one of the first Black Americans to perform at the New York City Opera. She performed stage versions of Hansel & Gretel as the mother, Carmen and Menotti's Old Maid & A Thief as Miss Todd. She was winner of the Oscar Ravina Vocalist Competition and performed with maestro Ravina and the University Orchestra. She also performed in two summer opera in the park concerts sponsored by Fratelli Trattoria and was featured in the NJ Star Ledger along with other aspiring young soloists. Her demos proved there was a melodious voice that contained determination, strength, and the makings of a true DIVA.

During the summer of 2000, Ms. Conde performed at Club Ozone in Miami to a crowd of 1000 with Detour Records and at Club Heaven in New York City with the promotional talents of Rev. Carmen Hernandez. She was also featured on Telemundo Network in the NY/NJ/PA areas. She has collaborated with Will Essa on Dance The Night Away (a Toronto based producer), Sal Chisari of RuffBeat Studios who produced Vanessa on two dance tracks and now will work with Fred The Edit Rivera & DJ veteran of Webster Hall Juan Valentine in New York City.
Thanks to the efforts of Shakir Entertainment, Vanessa will record "Love Can Reign" with PLUM RECORDS. Vanessa is also prolific songwriter & lyricist who never runs out of great DANCE tracks!
The label's CEO/President is 5-time Platinum Dance/Disco producer Kenton Nix. His classic dance song, "Heartbeat" was re-recorded by SEDUCTION in the early 90's and remains one of the top most sampled records of modern day music. Vanessa will be working with their talented producer and son Ken Nix Jr. This single is SLATED for BIG THINGS so keep your EARS pealed! Her inspirational single, "Peace & Love" will be released this June 2006 on SOUNDGROOVE RECORDS.
