BIOGRAPHY: GEORGE LAMOND |
George LamondReal name, George Garcia, born in Washington D.C. has been known to many New Yorker's as the "King Of Freestyle." George began by singing back up for his cousin, better known as Joey Kid, on tracks such as "Counting The Days" and for other various artists. He eventually teamed up with producers Chris Barbosa and Mark Ligget (Ligosa Records) who have worked with freestyle music on the label Emergency Records with artist know as Shannon. In 1989, George, part of the group Loose Touch, recorded "Bad Of The Heart" and quickly began climbing up the billboard charts. With it's popularity, the major label, Columbia Records, picked up the track and re-released it under the new artist name of George Lamond and the album "Bad Of The Heart" was created, which gave us two more freestyle classics "Without You" and "Look Into My Eyes". A second album was released entitled "In My Life", it contained less freestyle and didn't fare well with freestyle fans. In 1995 a third album was released, "It's Always You" which gained back the freestyle fans. Two albums were released in 1999, one a latin album and the other a pop/freestyle album entitled "My Roots", which contained all his old classics and new hits.
However, his roots are Freestyle, he is currently pursuing a cross-over
into the Salsa industry which he happens to be doing very well. He has
been seen in many talk shows such as "El Gordo Y La Flaca", "Sabodo
Gigante" and the very popular, "El Show De Freddy Lopez." But don't
count out Mr. Lamond out yet.....
As of 2002, George
Lamond has teamed up with long time friends Kayel & Tony O of
TKA and have together form the dynamic trio, TKG. Freestyle can't
get any better than this. |
