Dance Music and
particularly Freestyle Music has been blazing the airwaves for the past
20 years across the world. Groups have come and gone. Now and then something
special occurs where those select few become legends and are able to
touch the hearts of many for years to come. Freestyle Music and its
legends have managed to do that with such greats as Johnny O, Stevie
B, Noel, George Lamond, TKA, Cover Girls, & Expose to a new a few.
Since the Mid 1990s,
freestyle music has been on a decline and many say that it is a lost
genre in the Dance Music industry. Even the greats from the past have
attempted to come back and revive the music that they once conquered
and sadly they have not been able to do so. Recently, we have scene
hope with new acts like Nick Colon, Latin Nation, Sharyn Maceran, Ashley,
& Tru Voices to name a few. But one particular group that stands
out as what some deem as the last hope for freestyle to reclaim itself
as a respectable genre of dance music has to be the Trio of Nu Image.
This Freestyle
trio started their days back in 1990 with original members Tong G.,
Tyree Hernandez, & Victor Zapata.

Through out the
years, the group has released various singles including the much accepted,
"Tears In My Eyes" and have been featured in freestyle compiliations
such as Syling Free Records Volume 2, "1999 Freestyle Finale."
In early 2002, the
group reformed itself again and teamed up with Pompeo Messano and soon
were signed with Aria Records; thus, the quest for their new album began.
The much anticipated
album by Aria Record's newest sensation, NU IMAGE, hit the streets in
late February 2004. This album contains 26 hot blazing tracks with 5
different mixes of their smash hit, "I'll Always Love You."
As one listens to this album you can immediately feel the passion of
their music through their vocals. The titled track, "What I have
Found," is an example of what freestyle needs to be in order to
recapture its glory. The Aria group did a good job in producing high
quality tracks with good vocal arrangements. You have varioius styles
of music from freestyle, r&b, and trance all wrapped into one.
Their are many hard
hitting dance tracks like "Your My Angel," "Torn By 2,"
& "My Heart," to name a few. For all of you freestyle
collector's, they even threw in 2 different mixes of their original
hit, "Tears in My Eyes." - a must have in your freestyle collection.
Out of the entire album, one track in my mind that stands out as a true
freestyle classic in years to come has to be "Forbidden Love."
It grabs you the instance the first note is hit!! Great Job! Also, did
I fail to mention that is a 2 cd album. All I can say is WOW - its very
rare for a freestyle artist or in the matter a freestyle label to invest
so much into one project. Freestylemania would like to wish Nu Image
much success and highly recommend everyone to go out and buy this cd
and support freestyle. You will not be dissapointed.
