Over the past seven years, Canadian artist Elissa has grown as a
vocalist, producer and performer.
A native of Toronto, Canada, Elissa has been contributing to the music scene
since the tender age of six. Her talent has landed her roles in musicals and
success in competitions. Her greatest influences are her family members and
her strong European values.
Her talents have led her to tour across North America in cities such as
Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, San Antonio, San Diego, Miami and New York to
name a few, earning Elissa faithful fans everywhere she goes.
Elissa turned heads in North America with her first freestyle hit single
“Show Me How You Love Me”, where she enjoyed huge radio success across Canada
and the United States through Metropolitan and Ti Amo Records. In 1996, “Show
Me How You Love Me” bubbled under the Billboards Hot 100 Singles Chart.
Another of Elissa’s hit singles, “Bailando”, was one of the most requested
songs on radio, receiving heavy airplay. It charted on both National CHR and
Dance Charts.
Elissa’s release “ Mamboleo” was a Top 20 Hit on the National Canadian CHR
Charts and debut as the #6 top selling single in Canada in late 1999, early
2000. “Mamboleo’s” release earned Elissa a heavy rotation ad on Kiss 98.5 FM
Buffalo across the border from her hometown.
Her greatest achievement for the year 2000 is holding the #1 position with
her freestyle single “Back To Me” on Toronto’s Hit Music Station Z103.5 FM
Freestyle Frenzy program. She also received great support and heavy weekend
rotation during Johnny Budz Mix show on WKTU 103.5 FM New York.
The year 2001 held promise for this rising young star. Mamboleo earned Elissa
her first of two Canadian Music Radio Award nominations for Best New Solo
Artist and Best Rhythmic/R&B Artist. “Back To Me” was a #1 record in
Brazil, signing Elissa’s hot single to dance label Spottlight Records.
Elissa keeps herself busy producing for dance artists in Canada and around
the world. She worked with America’s Dance Queen “Lil Suzy”, giving her a top
dance single in Canada for her song “Treat Me Right” in 2001.
Elissa’s long awaited full-length dance album has just been released in North
America and she is also promoting the Canadian release of her new single
titled “ The Light”, remixed by European producers behind the “Becca”
project. Elissa has started off the year 2002 with a bang; “The Light” won a
Canadian Indies Award and a nomination for a Canadian Juno Award in the Best
Dance Recording Category.
